What Usually Causes This Problem

Most cases trace back to one of the following root causes. Our technicians diagnose with a diagnostic kit and the right diagnostic tools on every callout.

Bent or broken HDMI pin

Bumping the cable while plugging in can bend internal pins. Visible damage = port replacement.

Loose solder joints

Repeated cable plugging gradually loosens internal solder joints. We re-flow or replace the port.

Cable fault not the TV

Always test with a known-good HDMI cable before assuming the port has failed.

HDCP handshake issue

Some TVs fail to negotiate copy-protection handshake with certain devices. We update firmware where supported.

Loose internal ribbon

The HDMI board connects to the mainboard by ribbon cable — sometimes works loose.

Audio working but no picture

Common HDMI partial-failure mode. Usually solved by port replacement or HDMI board swap.

HDMI and AV input ports being repaired on a TV — Loose, dead or burnt HDMI and AV ports re-soldered or replaced so every input works again.
